Experience Kuchipudi, a classical dance form of India, as performed by acclaimed practitioner Shantha Nair of India!

Critically acclaimed by connoisseurs as an accomplished dancer, Shantha Nair brings to her performances a unique experience. She has performed widely in India. A student of Vedantham Ramalinga Sastry, Shantha performs the traditional Kuchipudi dance art from the Kuchipudi village, interpreting Hindu mythology to new audiences. She has many choreographies to her credit, including several dance pieces in the Kuchipudi and folk repertories. She has been a disciple of Smt.S. Divyasena, Sri.Ghantasala Pavan Kumar, Sri. Ch. Ajay Kumar, Smt. Dandamudi Sumathi Ramamohan Rao, and Smt.Alamelu Mangathayaru.

This performance is part of "Beats of Life, Rhythms of Heritage," a seven-part performance series presented by Natya Dance Theatre in collaboration with Chicago's Indo-American Heritage Museum. Performances featuring renowned local and international artists that bring the music and dance of India to Chicago audiences will continue throughout 2012, at various venues.
